the Writer's WEaLTH WORKSHOP
turn your writing into a real revenue.
Elevate your creative practice into a high-performance business. This session breaks down the frameworks used by professional authors to monetize their intellectual property and build multi-channel revenue streams.
So, what is this workshop you're running?
It’s a five-week course, split between live instruction and twice-a-week prompts, that’ll help you figure out how to better monetize your writing. If you’re already monetizing it, this boot camp will help you scale it.
I’ll be teaching from five-plus years of being my own boss so the boot camp is meant for writers, and in particular the writers who find themselves where I was six years ago:
—Scared what will happen if/when they lose their corporate media gig.
—Or, worse, unsure of how to turn what they love—writing stories, editing stories, producing stories, whatever—into a viable product or service, on Substack or somewhere else on the web, so that they might at last be able to live life on their own terms.
Who are you?
I’m Paul Kix, a longtime magazine journalist turned nonfiction author and entrepreneur. My magazine journalism has won the General Excellence award at the American Society of Magazine Editors’ annual gala. I’ve written for The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Esquire, New York. A story I wrote for GQ was turned into a movie that you can stream now. My first book, an Amazon best-seller, was optioned by Steven Spielberg. My second book, also a best-seller, and optioned by Radar Pictures, was named to Amazon’s and The New York Times’ and Kirkus’ respective Best Books of the Year lists.
Is this workshop you’re running a scam?
Good gawd, no. In the digital age, though, you’re right to ask.
You can read this post to see how exactly I went from no experience with entrepreneurism to scaling my own business to levels well above what I was making in my former job at ESPN.
That’s what I’ll be teaching: What I’ve learned these last six years.
And I like teaching. I’ve taught people what I know about writing via my course on the craft, The Storytelling You, and in my one-on-one consulting, and these writers have then:
-
written stories that led to the most-trafficked pieces of the writers’ career.
I say that because it’ll be the same with this workshop on making more money from your writing.
I’ll be teaching you what I know so that you can then apply it to your career and life.
How much will this workshops cost?
$1,000.
And if, after three months, you haven’t earned back your investment, I’ll personally work with you until you do.
Is that a guarantee?
Yes.
Look, I’m not out to grift you. I want to help you succeed.
The stuff I do to help authors—I've helped nine authors land book deals, with one exceeding $350K from a New York house—the stuff I do to help others brings me so much joy.
It'll be the same with this entrepreneurial workshop for writers. I want to help you, "Lead the life you imagined," as Thoreau put it.
How many people will be in this workshop?
Twenty.
I'm keeping the class intentionally small so everyone gets the attention they deserve to make more money.
How do I get in?
Send me an email.
Then I, effectively, screen. With only 20 people in the workshop I want to make sure you're right for it—and that I can actually help you.
So, the screening process is you and me exchanging emails and perhaps a 15- to 30-minute chat about where you are, what’s frustrating you about your finances, and what you want from your creative endeavors.
If you're a good fit for the workshop, if I can help you, I'll say as much.
I may not have the cash for this right now.
I get it. I've been where you are. Apply anyway.
If you want in but your finances are super tight, I'm open to a payment plan to make it more feasible for you.
What if I do this and I fail anyway?
What if you succeed? That's just as likely an outcome. In fact, it's more likely.
Remember: I'll work with you until you make back your investment. So you literally have nothing to lose.
But that question—"What if I fail?"—is the sort of question I use to pose ALL THE TIME six years ago.
This workshop will get you to see and hear, and perhaps for the first time, the stories you've been telling yourself: about your failures, about what you "deserve," which always seems to be less than what you dream of.
That shit has to stop. And I say that as someone who used to talk to myself that way all the time.
This workshop will give you better mental frameworks and the tactical operative know-how to do the work you love, get paid more to do it, work fewer hours, and lead life on your terms.
All you gotta do is say you're intrigued. The worst thing that happens is that you and I exchange some emails.
So just write me an email and say you're curious about learning more.
Paul
P.S. I'll be closing the registration to the workshop soon. So it's best to email me ASAP.
